“In the world of Mouse Guard, mice struggle to live safely and prosper amongst harsh conditions
and a host of predators. Thus the Mouse Guard was formed: more than just soldiers, they are guides
for common mice looking to journey without confrontation from one village to another.
They see to their duty with fearless dedication so that they may not simply exist, but truly live.” – http://www.mouseguard.net/

I pay homage to Mouse Guard in some of my work. In the image to the left you can see that I have created a painting in the background of a bar scene in my work. I try to put little tidbits and easter eggs in my work that lead you back to where I got inspiration from.

I love following the stories in Mouse Guard. It’s where I get some of my inspiration to create my work. I read their book series all the time and study the work they do to help me get excited about creating my worlds. I have a sort of obsession with frogs. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of a complex world taking place among the leafs and ponds of the forest floor.

Frogs provide some interesting challenges as well as unique story lines that I love exploring. See more of my Frog Obsession!

thesourceI was interviewed by the Source Weekly in Bend, OR on October 14, 2014. It was a great interview and I feel honored that they wanted to hear more about my work. Check it out here: The Source – Meet the Artist. Here’s a snippet of what you can find in the article: “When people ask me how have I ended up being an artist I tell them, everyone is an artist in the beginning. Kids always have colored pencils growing up and everyone draws. At a certain point everyone stops drawing. I just didn’t stop drawing. Even the side of my homework was a good enough place for that.” – Tim Jones
